Blog 12: Due Wednesday, Apr18th –
Write a paragraph about why our photographic moment was worth documenting?
*Just for thought: Notice that any moment, if photographed properly, can become visually intriguing. Observe the moment. How is light being captured? How are you framing the shot? These factors build up what will make or break your photo. I am pulled to this moment as Chase sits looking out the window. The high  brilliant/overexposed light on his face is in deep contrast with the form shadows along his profile...pulling me in...wanting me to see/think about what is going on in his mind. Notice how he is set back into the middleground of the photo? the blue lights give an imaginary line that brings the viewer's eye to Chase, as does the line of the chair. This photo could be set up better with the Golden Rectangle, but the mood is wonderful!

  1. In my opinion, any photographic moment is worth capturing. It's like impressionism in photography because portraiture is often lost. The inherent value in photography is the ability to capture a single space in time--much like what you've done in this photograph.

  2. I love moments, and like Chase, agree that every photographic moment is something worth documenting. Even the simplest of moments are worthy of saving because time flies so fast. The shot is well framed and there is a great mood to the photograph. Chase is downtown, in a leather jacket, and he really loves coffee. That's always a moment worthy of documentation.

  3. Like Katelyn and Chase I think it would be hard to ever say a photo wasn't worth taking. It allows you to capture the mood, the moment, and the environment. The lighting makes the photo very interesting since he is looking into it. All the details surrounding him also make the photo more interesting.

  4. This photo was well worth taking. You wont get those light effects, just so, the positioning of his body, just right, shadows, highlights, those kinds of shots come along rarely. You better grab them when they do.
