Write a paragraph about the process of shooting people. What is difficult about shooting people as opposed to shooting Object, Still Life, and Nature? What do you consider to be hard about it? What makes it easy?

Does lighting people at different angles create mood?

  1. Shooting people is far more difficult, in my opinion, than objects. When working with people, you're dealing with their perception of how "awkward" they look as well as them wanting to proof all of the shots before you keep them.
Shooting people, on the other hand, is easier because you can do so much with people. Make-up, costuming, etc. You really have limitless options.
Lighting people can make a huge difference. Backlighting versus front lighting can make a tremendous difference, for example.

  2. The difference in shooting people rather than object, still life, and nature is that people need more "attention" paid to their overall appearance instead of the setting that's being captured. However, it can be easier to shoot people because there is room for creativity and a personal vision instead of what already exists.

Lighting definitely makes a difference in the mood of a shot. A dim lighting creates a dark, dramatic mood for a photograph whereas a brightly lit photo can maintain a "fresh" image.

  3. I think it is much harder to photograph people than nature ot still lifes. You have to decide how to position the person and what the mood of the picture is going to be. There is a lot more to manipulate and it all depends on the willingness of who is being photographed. However, the fact that people give you so many new options could allow it to be easier.
Yes, lighting can affect the mood of a shot. You can draw different features out with different angles of lighting and you can make the photo dramatic or more natural.

  4. I think it is harder to photograph people than still life or nature. With people you have to figure in motion when taking a picture. Sometimes the slightest movement can cause a blur. Plus with people you sometimes have to position them in a way that may not feel natural for them to get a good shot. With still life and nature you can circle around and get different angles without loosing anything, but with people taking a picture of their backs is not as visually appealing.

  5. Shooting people is difficult in that you can get arrested for that. If you just wound them that's one thing, but if they die, uh oh! KA KA's gonna hit the fan then. But if you can make it look like an accident? Your free and clear, better if you don't get caught at all. That's my philosophy. Now why anyone would want to shoot a still life, well to each his own I always say. I guess it would be a lot easier, not as much of a mess to clean up anyway.
Lighting makes a big difference because no one can see you take a shot in the dark!!!!!

  6. Shooting people in my opinion is easier than shooting objects. You can get your point across by the emotion that they show, or even the background that they are in. Sometimes it is hard to explain to the person being photographed what mood you are trying to get across, so that can be difficult. Lightening is the difference between night and day, no pun intended. You can either make or break a shot based on the angle of the light in the photo.
