Notice how each tells a story or has a message? Storytelling or sending visual messages clearly is very difficult to do, but once you become aware of it, you will notice it more.

Blog 12: Due Wednesday, Apr18th –
Write a paragraph about why our photographic moment was worth documenting?
*Just for thought: Notice that any moment, if photographed properly, can become visually intriguing. Observe the moment. How is light being captured? How are you framing the shot? These factors build up what will make or break your photo. I am pulled to this moment as Chase sits looking out the window. The high  brilliant/overexposed light on his face is in deep contrast with the form shadows along his profile...pulling me in...wanting me to see/think about what is going on in his mind. Notice how he is set back into the middleground of the photo? the blue lights give an imaginary line that brings the viewer's eye to Chase, as does the line of the chair. This photo could be set up better with the Golden Rectangle, but the mood is wonderful!

Blog 11: Due Wednesday, Apr 11th –
1. Answer: What makes a photograph more than just a snapshot picture?
2. Find a link to a photojournalist that shows a great example of photojournalism.
3. Why did you enjoy it (if applicable - the trip to the Zoo)?
Aaron Taylor goes Jackson Pollock on his canvas as he experiences the Abstract Expressionism technique of splattering paint. Pollock was innovative in the controlled dripping. "I wanted to do the same idea to feel what the artist felt during the creation process," says Taylor as he completes his painting located at the Kentucky Wesleyan College painting studio in Owensboro, KY.

1. Find an example of real texture and implied texture. Post a link to the images.
(*Actual/Real texture is texture that you can feel. Visual/implied texture is when something "looks like it has a texture it does not".  IE: a painting could have a smooth surface, but the content (the subject within the painting) might appear to be a rough and bumpy tree with dried leaves.)
**Durer's Rhino is implied because it is a 2D artwork that displays the texture of the animal's outer skeleton.

2. Answer: How does an artist create form in a painting?
